The Cancer Card

I’ve remembered how to be cold hearted and in fact

I wanted to have something that I could dip in and out of during treatment, and with as many different styles and techniques as possible, to suit whatever mood may pass.

During treatment, whenever we felt too tired to socialise, we would ‘play the cancer card’ and opt out. “So sorry, no can do; cancer you know…”

Cheeky but valid nonetheless.

And so this painting evolved.

Have a peek……you can see where the surgeon cut the cancer from my right boob……

The making of The Cancer Card

As with some of my other work, I’ve used luminous paints.

The dancing harlequins were inspired by dancers at The Rep Theatre Dundee.

Brumbled

No expense spared.

Gold leaf on the background.

Pops her mortal coil and shuffles off in her clogs.
